I used a flip type latch that I got from Acklands.
My current tire carrier uses a 4140, 1/3/8" pin with pressed in bronze bushings and is made of 2x2, 1/8" wall
tubing.
Byron's AMC 20 truss. He need a low profile truss that would still be strong so I made it out of 3/16" plate
with a 1/4 strap over the top.
